Tilastomenetelmien peruskurssi
Tuossa kaksi viikkoa sitten alkoi tilastomenetelmien peruskurssi (6 op). Tilastomenetelmät kuuluvat pakollisina yleisopintoina varmaan suurimpaan osaan kandidaatin tutkintoja, kuten sosiaalityöhönkin. Vaikka tuo ei minun lempiaiheitani olekaan, sen takia että se on "kamalan" vaikeaa tilastomatematiikkaa, ajattelin hoidella tuon kurssin pois alta. Mitäpä sitä jättämään tuonnemmaksi.
Kurssi sisältää 40 tuntia luentoja ja 16 tuntia harhoitustehtäviä. Kurssin voi suorittaa sekä etänä että paikan päällä, vaikka suoritellaankin, että olisi hyvä olla mahdollisimman monesti juuri paikan päällä. Itse olen suurimman osan tähän astisista luennoista kuunnellut tallenteina kotikoneeltani, koska suoraan sanoen mulla on hankalaa olla rauhassa luennolla, joka vaatii todellakin aivan täydellisen keskittymisen. Siksi kuuntelen mieluummin kotona nauhalta, että voin pysäyttää tarpeen tullen ja miettiä rauhassa hetken. Ja myös siksi, että saan pitää omia pikku paussejani. Yleensä kuuntelen luentoja (muitakin) myöhään illalla kun talo rauhoittuu, toisin sanoen kun poikani "Duracell" nukkuu ;) Kun englannin puhekurssi on ohitse reilun viikon kuluttua, pystyn keskittymään paremmin tilastomenetelmiin, jotka kestävät 19.5 asti. Sen jälkeen on vielä 2 opintopisteen SPPS-kurssi, joka on kesäkuussa ja psykologian johdantokurssin tehtävissä on vielä tekemistä ja yks tentti vielä (jospa sitä joskus pääsis lomailemaan sitten).
Tilastomenetelmissä harjoitellaan tilastollisen tutkimuksen tekemistä ja kurssilla käydään läpi eri menetelmiä tutkimuksen tekemiseen. Esim. heti aluksi käytiin läpi, millä tavoin saadaan luetettava tutkimusaineisto vaikka tutkimus tehtäisiin vain pienestä määrästä henkilöitä. Eli siis erilaiset otantamenetelmät on syytä tuntea ihan aluksi tutkimuksen tekoon ryhtyessä. Matemaattiset kaavat, joita tutkimuksen tekoon tarvitaan, näyttävät todella pahoilta, mutta eivät toki ole niin vaikeita miltä näyttävät, kunhan vaan oppii tietämään erilaisten merkkien selitykset. Toki nuo kaavat ovat suurimmalle osalle ainakin minun tuntemistani ihmisistä tosi vaikeita, mutta kyllä se taas siitä.

Hui, nyt tuli kamala hoppu :( Käääääk! Maanantaina on tentti ja mulla on vielä monta luentoakin kuuntelematta tilastomenetelmistä ja lisäksi en ymmärrä vielä juurikaan mitään. Täytyy tämä viikonloppu "pyhittää" vain tilastomenetelmille.
