Eteenpäin vaikka läpi harmaan kiven :)
Heips pikästä aikaa. Pari viikkoa meni taas ihan siivillä. Tällä viikolla opintoni ovat aika vahvasti suuntautuneet pääasiassa englannin opintoihin eri muodoissaan. Academic reading oppitunnit olivat tiistaina ja torstaina. Ensi tiistaita varten olen tehnyt suullista esitelmää. Esitys kuuluu tehdä kirjasta tai artikkelista, josta tekee kurssin lopputyönä tiivistelmän. Tiivistelmään käytetty aineisto täytyy liittyä oman alansa opiskeluihin, joten valitsin A.F Chalmersin kirjasta "What is this thing called science" 1. kappaleen. Kappaleessa on 18 sivua, minulle melko täysin ymmärtämätöntä tieteellistä tekstiä, josta siis yritän päästä johonkin ymmärrykseen voiden tehdä sen tiivistelmä. Tiivistelmä tehdään onneksi (jippii) suomeksi. Tiivistelmän pituus täytyy olla noin sivun-puolitoista, joten aineistosta on saatava vain ydinasiat tiivistelmään. Tiivistelmän on oltava selkeä ja sellaisen ihmisen ymmärrettävissä, joka ei tunne kirjaa.
Chalmersin kirja kuuluu Tieteellisen toiminnan perusteet -oppijaksoon, joka on pakollinen yleisopintojakso sosiaalityön kandidaatin tutkinnossa. Oppijaksossa tutustutaan filosofian oppiaineeseen tarkastelemalla tieteellisen toiminnan perusluonnetta ja tieteen päämääriä. Tavoitteena on luoda johdatteleva systemaattinen yleiskuva tieteellisen tutkimuksen luonteesta. Opintojakson kirjallisuuteen kuuluu toinenkin kirja, joka on onneksi suomenkielinen. Tai oikeastaan vaihtoehtona on joko tämä Chalmersin kirja kokonaan yksinään tai Chalmersista kolme kappaletta ja lisäksi se toinen. Arvatkaapa miten valitsen? :D Tiet. toim. opintojakso suoritetaan joko tenttimällä tai esseetehtävillä. Ajattelin suorittaa sen keväällä. Suoritustapaa en ole vielä päättänyt.
Olen jo aloitellut tuota lopputyön tiivistelmän tekoa, mutta eilen tein loppuun pienemmän tiivistelmän, joka oli tullut myös "läksyksi". Siinä pääsi aika tosi kivasti systeemiin sisään, miten saan mahdollisimman kätevästi englanninkielisestä tekstistä suomenkielisen tiivistelmän. Apuna oli käsitekartta (mind map). Itseasiassa tiivistelmän tekeminen oli aika kivaa :) Varsinkin siinä vaiheessa, kun se valmistui :D Sanakirjaa joutui käyttämään jo tuossa 2 sivun aineistossa tosi paljon. Onneksi on olemassa erilaisia nettisanakirjoja, koska kestäisi minun sanasto-osaamisellani "vuosi" ennenkuin kaikki sanat löytäisin tavallisesta sanakirjasta. Tiivistelmän tekemisessä on erittäin haasteellista se, että saa todella pieneen tekstimäärään sisällytettyä vain tärkeimmät pääasiat. Harjoitustekstistä, joka oli sen kaksi sivua, täytyi saada tiivistelmä mahtumaan 80-100 sanaan. En oikein millaan meinannut saada tiivistettyä niin lyhyeen, mutta sain kuin sainkin sitten lopulta mahtumaan sen noin 100 sanaan. Lopputyön tiivistelmä saa olla 1-1 ½ sivua siitä 18 sivusta.
Tästä on taas hyvä jatkaa. Kirjoitelkaapa tekin kuulumisia ja nauttikaa elämästä ja opiskelusta :)
